What is Furniture Wrapping?

Furniture wrapping is considered a process of covering furniture with protective material, with the primary goal of keeping it safe from scratches, dents, and other damage. The most common type of furniture wrapping is done with vinyl film. It is a durable and easy-to-use material available in diverse colors and textures.

Benefits of Furniture Wrapping

There are several benefits of wrapping furniture, like protecting it from damage, keeping it clean, and extending its life. Vinyl film is also great for hiding flaws or imperfections on furniture surfaces. It can be used to add a pop of color or pattern to plain pieces for a Creative wrap. Furniture wrapping is an easy and affordable way to upgrade the look of your home without having to buy new furniture.

What materials are used for kitchen wrapping?

Two main types of vinyl films are used for furniture wrapping in Kitchens: cast and calendered. Cast vinyl is shaped using a mold that gives it a smoother surface and makes it more durable than the calendered vinyl. Calendered vinyl is made by passing the material through rollers which gives it a less smooth surface but makes it more flexible

Advantages of vinyl wrapping

Vinyl films have several advantages over other materials used for furniture wrapping. They are durable and resistant to tearing, fading, and UV damage. They are also easy to clean and maintain.

How to Wrap Furniture Properly?

The first step is to call a professional wrapping company. Second, you will need to clean the surface of the furniture thoroughly. But don’t worry about this step really as the company will also make sure the surface is cleaned properly.  Any dirt, dust, or debris will create bumps and unevenness under the vinyl wrap, so it is significant to start with a clean surface.

Next, you will need to remove any hardware from the furniture piece. It includes handles, knobs, hinges, etc. Once the hardware is removed, you can label each piece with a numbered sticker. It will help you keep track of where each piece goes, especially when it is time to reassemble the furniture.

If your furniture has any glass components, such as a glass tabletop or mirror, you’ll need to remove these as well. It is best to wrap these separately from the rest of the piece to avoid breakage during the wrapping process.

The Wrapping Process

Now that your furniture is all prepped-up, up, and ready to go, it is time to call your wrapping expert! Just make sure to cover the largest surfaces first and work your way down to much smaller details. For example, if wrapping a dresser, you would start by covering the top surface and then move on to the sides and front panels. If you’re not sure you can fo it,make sure to ask the booking manager  if they can handle this step for you.

When covering larger surfaces, it is best to use a panel of vinyl at least 2 feet wider than the surface area you’re covering. It will give you plenty of room to work with and avoid any wrinkles or bubbles in the vinyl wrap.

To attach the vinyl panel to the furniture surface, a professional low-tack adhesive spray or double-sided tape along all four edges of the vinyl panel. Then, the backing paper is removed and pressure  is applied to adhere the vinyl panel in place. Once the panel adheres, the expert will slowly peel away the remaining backing paper. Using a squeegee or hishands to smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles in the vinyl wrap. Repeat this process for all large surfaces on your piece of furniture.

How to Remove Wrapping from Furniture?

Vinyl wraps are not permanent and can be removed when necessary without damaging most finishes. There are 2 ways removal can be achieved: heat gun removal and chemicals solvents/adhesives removal. Heat gun removal is considered less harsh. Because once applied correctly, it only targets adhesive bonds without affecting paint or other finishes underneath. Chemical solvents/adhesives tend to be harsher. Because they attack paint and adhesive bonds.

Conclusion

Furniture wrapping is a great way to protect your furniture from scratches, dents, and other damage. Today, the market offers many types of vinyl films used for furniture wrapping, each with different advantages. The Best vinyl wrapping companies will follow the proper steps when wrapping furniture is significant to ensure the process goes smoothly. Once the furniture gets wrapped, you can add some finishing touches to give it a unique look.
